The FCPS FRESH & School Nutrition Programs have partnered to make a variety of salads available as options for students to purchase at lunch time. Debbie Hansen (FCPS Menu Planner) developed a set of mouthwatering recipes that fit the USDA guidelines for nutrient requirements & Natalie Ortiz (FRESH CHEF) held a series of skills & presentation trainings for salad & produce prep staff from all school cafeterias. Special guest co-trainers from Warrenton Middle School, Adrienne Blackwell (Lead Cook) & Laura Henson (salad & fresh produce prep staff member), shared tips for freshness, flavor, & encouraged students to try something new. Chicken Caesar Pasta, Southwest Chicken Salad, Caprese Salad, Chicken BLT Pasta, & options for Chef Salads are included in the variety; however, selections may vary by school. Please contact your student’s school cafeteria manager to learn about which delicious options are available!
